Why We Built This Site
New York does not place every criminal-history record in one public system. Ulster County police agencies keep their own reports, UCLEC creates county booking files, and each court retains its proceedings. DCJS maintains the fingerprint-supported state repository but limits Personal Record Review to the subject or that person's attorney. DOCCS handles state custody, while the New York State Sex Offender Registry serves its own public-safety purpose. We organize the official contact details, fees, search tools, and request steps without treating one source as a complete record.
What You Will Find Here
- Agency routes: contacts for Ulster County police, Sheriff's, jail, court, and statewide record custodians
- Record guides: ways to search and understand criminal court case records in Ulster County
- Official review steps: the difference between name-based court research and a fingerprint-based DCJS self-review
- Record-sealing information: how New York sealing laws affect public access and where a court filing begins
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site with no connection to an Ulster County office, New York court, police department, or state agency. Its role has firm limits:
- We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
- We cannot submit record-sealing papers, FOIL requests, or other forms for you
- We cannot issue certified copies of any criminal record, court document, or rap sheet
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific charge or case applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or address listed on this site is current right now
An official copy must come from the office that holds it, such as a police agency, court clerk, Sheriff, or DCJS. We can identify that route but cannot issue the document.
Search Partners
Third-party providers power search boxes shown on some pages. They control their services, results, and prices. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee that supports free access to this resource. We do not set a partner's charges or decide which information appears in its results.
